The inverter converts the DC power from the battery to a less fluctuating voltage through a converter, which is then converted into a rectangular wave approximating an alternating current by a switching element called an Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT)1).Switching frequency as fast as ten kHz to several tens of kHz, resulting in a large surge voltage. This surge voltage and switching element input voltage overlap, it will produce spikes (changes). To reduce this spike, smoothing capacitors are required.
